In collaboration with HIAL, FHNW and TERI, a conference was organised on 6-7 August 2022 to share the findings of the work done on passive solar heating and research activities in Ladakh carried out with the support of SDC. The two days conference covered the main topics of evolution of passive solar heated buildings in Ladakh, discussions on building codes and by-laws, financing and upskilling required for mainstreaming of this technology. The results on first thermal comfort survey of high-altitude cold regions like Ladakh, thermal simulations and replicable designs were also shared. The event received about 60 participants leading organisations including the Indian Army, local authorities. It culminated with the synthesisation and launch of Phyang Declaration - a list of easy to take steps suggested by the conference participants for the local administration for a Carbon Neutral Ladakh.
